Patterns of Power in the Middle School Classroom

with Jeff Anderson and Travis Leech

The Patterns of Power process works especially well in middle school classrooms because it taps into adolescents’ curiosity, collaboration, and creativity with grammar. That’s right, grammar. This 45-minute session, led by Jeff Anderson and co-author Travis Leech will be followed by live question and answer and will include:

• An overview of the Patterns of Power process with complex sentences.

• Tips for making the process work with adolescents, including conventions’ natural reading-writing connection.

• Information on features included in the new Patterns of Power: Inviting Adolescent Writers into the Conventions of Language (March 2021).
