Building Fact Fluency Toolkit: 
A Meaningful Way to Build Fluency Through Context and Purposeful Practice

When we ask students to memorize their addition and subtraction facts, we are essentially asking them to memorize over 100 isolated equations. Memorization doesn’t allow students to explore the relationships between numbers that are foundational to mathematics.

Over the last 2 years, we've been developing the Building Fact Fluency Toolkit which places contextualized understanding at the forefront of fluency. In this session, we'll explore the components of the #BuildingFactFluency Toolkit and the research that is interwoven throughout so that students can begin to make connections and develop an understanding that is scalable well beyond single digits.
